Through portraiture and figuration, Larry Madrigal’s work investigates cultural identities and ways of life. The story is restless and curious and appropriates intimate scenes whose visual orders share scenes with chaos and routine.
Each element is identified with actions and circumstances that human beings go through in their environment, such as paternity or maternity, rest and coexistence.
Psychological persuasion is evident in his portraits with the intention of highlighting the emotional qualities of the subjects. With defined brushstrokes Madrigal captures the details that make up the character. In his works there is also a questioning about philosophy, life and the origin of things; also of enjoyment and spontaneity.
In Dirty Mirror Madrigal has painted himself with his daughter cleaning the bathroom mirror. A realistic image inspired by a daily action and that plays with the viewer’s imagination through reflections. Movement, color and perspective are fortuitous accomplices of the composition and vibrant textures emerge from it.
This work is a color silkscreen, edition of 50, printed on 300 g 100% cotton Canson paper, which offers a high quality preservation.
